Surge Problems
Pressure Surges are one of the least understood and most destructive hydraulic phenomenon that occurs in a fluid system. Pressure surges are generally one of two types: rising pressure or transient surge waves. Both can result in catastrophic results including pipeline bursts, equipment damage, and personal injury. Often, the more destructive surge is often barely noticed as the invisible force causes ongoing mechanical stress on piping and fittings. Eventually, the cumulative fatigue from these transient surges causes piping failure.
Surges are almost always caused by a rapid change in fluid velocity within a pipeline or network of pipes. Pumps, control valves and equipment failure often can be the cause of surges. Some of this equipment can be modified to minimize damage associated with a pressure surges. However, with some equipment, including pumps and control valves, a more effective means to handle surges is required. Pressure Problems
When the system pressure is either too high or too low, it can cause a host of operational problems. We work with engineers and system operators that have pressure problems. Tank Overflow Problems
Water (or fluid) storage tanks are commonly used in many industries. They may include drinking water, fire protection, raw water detention, sewer detention, and suction tanks are a few among level control applications. When a tank is filled by a pipeline, there are two things that are essential to a reliable smooth filling operation: modulation of the fill valve and a control valve that has drip tight shut off capability.
